The political therapy based on social architecture of the system as an explanation of individual and group problems, and includes various techniques to develop an awareness of this that can lead to practical action.

The political therapy has been influenced by such radical psychiatry (see this section) and is based on a dialectical materialist society. Members of a given society is considered controlled by the economic structure of society. We believe that the central conflict in a community ownership of the means of production: the contradiction between wage earners and owners of the means of production. The social and psychological consequences of this conflict is alienation - a sense of powerlessness and alienation.

To cover up this conflict and justify the existing order, take such explanations for deviant behavior in way that is individual and not society that is in focus, which means that the existing social order excluded liability.

The political therapy assumes that the individual is oppressed by society, but also that he / she is a member of society itself participates in the oppression of others and themselves. A fundamental element of therapy is to become aware of this oppression and all its manifestations.

The therapy is divided into three stages: 1. The first thing is to see their problems in their political context and understand that you share them with many others.

2nd Then processed problems intellectually and emotionally. The therapist uses different methods to gestalt therapy, psychodrama, body-oriented psychotherapy, etc. (See sections on these methods).

3rd Consciousness is then put into practice - along with other, it must change the political environment.
